EEE-1394
Firewire is becoming the new standard for connecting high speed
peripheral devices, video devices, computers, disk drives, cameras
and other consumer electronic devices together. Cable features
a shielded twisted pair construction to ensure speeds up to
400Mbps and is compatible with Apple Firewire, iLink and other
IEEE-1394 peripheral devices. Tech Note: The length limitation
of Firewire is about 15 feet but our part number UF111 can be
used to extend this distance. Note that 2 pins of a 6-pin firewire
device have the ability to send or receive power while 4-pin
firewire devices must be self-powered.

Like the original
USB spec, USB 2.0 lets you easily
connect PCs and notebooks to peripherals, but this iteration
transfers data at 480 Mbps, about 40 times as fast as its predecessor.
USB 1.1 slowly became the interface of choice for peripherals
like mice and joysticks, which transmit small amounts of data.
But demanding devices such as digital cameras, hard drives,
and dvd drives have been the domain of USB 2.0's competitor,
IEEE 1394 (FireWire), which offers 400-Mbps throughput.
USB 2.0 is an alternative compatible with the original USB standard.
