USB 2.0 Hi-Speed
is a dramatic performance increase over the standard USB 1.1.
Whereas USB 1.1 is only 12Mbits/s, the new USB 2.0 Hi-Speed
specification used by the USB 2.0 PCI card runs at up to 480Mbits/s.
The CP-UIC-16 is a combo card, that gives you three USB 2.0
ports (2 external and 1 internal) and two Firewire ports (both
external).
USB, standing for "Universal Serial Bus", allows you
to attach up to 128 devices simultaneously with automatic device
detection and installation. Since USB 2.0 Hi-Speed is an evolution
of the existing USB 1.1 specification, it is fully backward
compatible with current USB systems and peripherals. Even with
the dramatically increased speeds, it works with existing cables
and connectors. In other words, consumers will have the benefit
of using devices they already have, so their investments are
protected. |
